Coach Amy Williams Retires After 15yrs
Of Outstanding Service To NCHS Softball
Coach Amy Williams played a key role in the 4 State Championships
here
at North County. More importantly she has played even a bigger
key role
in helping mentor young women during her tenure. A Physical
Education
Teacher at North County she has also coached basketball, volleyball
and of
course softball. An outstanding athlete herself, she started
her softball career
playing for the Tangerine Machine back in the late 70's. "The
girls absolutely
love Amy and will miss her being on the field running drills and
making softball
fun", said coach Thompson. "Because of personal reasons Amy
has decided to
step down from the Varsity Assistant position but if she ever
decides to come
back there will always be a place for her", said coach Thompson.
Coach Haddaway/Maze Move Up To Varsity
After coaching the JV squad for the last 5yrs
Coach Alan Haddaway and
Coach Amy "Maze" Mazierz will move up to Varsity as assistant
coaches. The
coaching duo put together an impressive 75-28 record during their
tenure
and won two county JV titles with the most wins during the season.
"I know
the JV squad will miss Alan and Maze but the good news is that they
are
staying with the program and moving up to help us at the varsity
level. Most
of the girls come up through JV before making it to varsity so they
already
know all the girls and it will be an easy transition", said Coach
Thompson.
